Cimarron Court
The Cimarron River flows from the Oklahoma panhandle to join the Arkansas River at Tulsa. The region takes its name from the river, and this tourist court is typical of that part of the country. In the Cimarron, red-brown sandstone abounds and is often used for a veneer. Sometimes the grout joints are painted white. I call this building technique giraffe stone for the obvious reason. The tourist court was a transitional building type between cabins for rent and the more modern motel.
