There are few towns of any size in the Delta. Memphis, Tennessee, Little Rock and Pine Bluff in Arkansas, Monroe, Louisiana, and Vicksburg, Mississippi all sit on somewhat higher ground like beach-front resorts along the shore of a sea of rice, cotton and soy beans. This Lion Oil station was on the old road between Little Rock and Pine Bluff.
