See Rock City
I sometimes call this piece The Architectural History of Rural America Since World War Two. It is a story often repeated. The farm failed and the farm house fell into disrepair. The part of the family that remained on the land lacked the skills or money to repair the old structure. They did, however, need shelter and brought in the mobile home. The farm house lasted 150 years, the trailer house lasted 10 years, and, in the end, the site was abandoned.
